Over the years, so many amazing and adorable romantic comedy films have been released. The relationships, the characters and the happily ever afters of these stories entertain fans of all ages, but there is one more aspect that people can enjoy on the screen and off – the gorgeous houses.

A good rom-com flick will feature a cool city apartment or a gorgeous home with a white picket fence, and lots of these settings are real-life locales. Therefore, when planning any upcoming trips, keep the following 10 houses, which were all made very famous in some very notable movies, in mind.

Breakfast At Tiffany’s

Breakfast At Tiffany’s came out back in 1961, starring Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly. As the name suggests, there are several iconic locations in New York, which were featured in the film and can be seen in real life, like the Tiffany’s store.

Plus, this is considered to be one of the best movies of all time, so fans regularly hunt down the filming locations. To see the building that was used for the outside shots of Holly’s Upper East Side brownstone, with its recognizable green door, head to 169 E 71st Street.

Sixteen Candles

In 1984, Sixteen Candles was released, starring Molly Ringwald as Samantha “Sam” Baker. The majority of this flick was filmed in Evanston, Skokie and Highland Park, Illinois, and there are a couple of classic filming locations to see in these towns.

First up, there is the Niles East High School. There is the Glencoe Union Church, the setting of the final scene that is so iconic. And there is Sam’s house, which is pictured here and which can be found at 3022 Payne Street in Evanston.

Father Of The Bride

Father Of The Bride, from the year 1991, featured actors and actresses like Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, and Kimberly Williams, and the beautiful white house in this movie is quite memorable.

It can be found at 500 N Almansor Street in Alhambra, California, with its basketball court and a backyard big enough for a wedding. However, the exterior shots were filmed at a different house, at 843 S El Molino Avenue in Pasadena, with its white picket fence. Therefore, there are two spots worth checking out, when it comes to this rom-com movie, and they are both beautiful!

Sleepless In Seattle

Next up is a super unique home, which was seen in Sleepless In Seattle, with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, from 1993. Located at 2460 Westlake Avenue North in Seattle, Washington, this is a floating house!

In real life, it is hooked up to sewer, water and electrical and features a bit more than 2,000 square feet worth of living space. It may not be for everyone, but it was cool enough for Tom Hanks’ character.

 Sweet Home Alabama

In 2002, Sweet Home Alabama featured Reese Witherspoon and Josh Lucas, but most of this rom-com was actually filmed in Georgia, such as stores in Crawfordville and an old mill in Fayette County that was transformed into a glassblowing shop. Two interesting facts are that this was also the first film to be shot in New York after September 11, 2001, as well as the first film to be shot in Tiffany’s since Breakfast at Tiffany’s!

For the Carmichael Plantation, specifically, the big house in this story, the Oak Hill Berry Museum was used, and it can be found at Berry College in Rome, Georgia.

Say Anything

Say Anything was released in 1989, starring John Cusack as Lloyd Dobler and Ione Skye as Diane Court. This is a classic romantic comedy and a classic opposites-attract story.

Due to its popularity, know that fans who are wanting to see Diane’s house can head to 140 South Norton Avenue in Los Angeles, California, and just look for these stairs. Oh, and then feel free to use this as an excuse to rewatch it… So good.

The Holiday

In 2006, The Holiday came out, starring Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, and Jack Black, and there are two notable locations to know of here: The exterior of Amanda’s house was filmed at architect Wallace Neff’s Mission Revival house.

In the UK, filming took place in Godalming and Shere, and the cottage was built in a field next to the St James’s Church in Shere. Both of these homes were perfect in their own special ways.

When Harry Met Sally

A very popular film from this genre is When Harry Met Sally, featuring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan. Released in 1989, it shows off several notable locations, such as well-known restaurants and parks in New York.

This is a list of homes and houses, though. That being said, to see Harry’s apartment specifically, people can go to 57 East 11th Street, and to see Jess and Marie’s brownstone, people can go to 32 West 89th Street.

While You Were Sleeping

In While You Were Sleeping, Sandra Bullock’s character, Lucy, gets involved with Bill Pullman’s character, Jack, and Peter Gallagher’s character, Peter… men who are brothers! Obviously, that complicates things, but let’s just focus on a particular setting from this flick.

Their family lives in a house in the suburbs of Chicago, which is actually located in La Grange, Illinois. Isn’t it stunning?!

Sex And The City

Sex And The City, a successful HBO show that was on from 1998 to 2004, starred Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw. And as fans know, there were two movies: Sex And The City in 2008, followed by Sex And The City 2 in 2010.

So, one more home is being added to this list, and that would be Carrie’s iconic apartment. It is an actual building in New York, which is located at 66 Perry Street. And it is a true tourist attraction; all of the spots listed out here are, but this show and this character meant so much to people, so it is super common to see fans posing on these steps, all these years later.
