Trulia, a popular website and app for home buyers and renters is expanding how it’s helping users learn about communities with its new Trulia Neighborhoods. The main goal is giving people a “genuine feel for what it’s like to actually live in a neighborhood.”

Launhcing today, Trulia announced the news in a press release.

Likely looking to offer a little different angle than services like Nextdoor on connecting with and understanding a neighborhood, Trulia wants to offer potential home buyers and renters “an authentic feel for everyday life in a neighborhood.”

Trulia Neighborhoods builds on previous features the service has released including: What Locals Say and Local Legal Protections. The new features will offer custom visuals based on public data along with insight from local residents.

  • Get direct resident feedback: ​Trulia’s ​What Locals Say ​feature shares unique resident insights and feedback on the neighborhood nuances that can’t be found anywhere else in​cluding ease of parking, whether the park is dog-friendly, or if neighbors decorate their homes for the holidays. ​To date, more than 15 million locals have submitted responses and neighborhood reviews.
  • Dive into a neighborhood​: Trulia deployed teams across U.S. neighborhoods to capture unique, day-in-the-life content to give buyers and renters an authentic view of where residents spend their time. Trulia Neighborhoods features never-before seen aerial drone footage, high-resolution photo galleries, and “Inside the Neighborhood” stories, creating a visually-rich look of what life is really like.
  • Uncover local highlights and amenities​: Discover the top 20 local favorites and see what amenities are available in and near the neighborhood boundaries.
  • Access hyper-local safety insights​: Trulia Neighborhoods provides a local perspective on safety, such as if the streets are well lit and if there are paved sidewalks.
