Electronic Arts’ yearly EA Play event will take place later this week, and Anthem will play a key role. Ahead of Saturday’s press conference, the company announced what to expect from the upcoming action role-playing game. They started off by unveiling that a new trailer will be shown, and that it will be a look at the “story, characters, and monsters” that are a huge part of the RPG.

Originally unveiled last year during Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference, Anthem is the next game from Dragon Age and Mass Effect developer BioWare. The gameplay showed a new online focus for the decorated developer, as players can form a four-person squad and enjoy the open-world online. The role-playing game’s mobility played a key role in the footage, as characters wear exosuits called Javelins that give them superhuman abilities.

A trailer is only the start of things, as developer BioWare will also show off more gameplay footage of the loot-driven multiplayer game. In addition to that, a combat showcase that goes into how players will use the character’s Javelin exosuits will be shown. Finally, there will be a “developers insights” session with BioWare General Manager Casey Hudson, Executive Producer Mark Darrah, and Lead Writer Cathleen Rootsaert. They’ll all take the stage to talk about the design philosophies of the game and to show off some never before seen concept art.

Seeing how Anthem is set to release in March of next year, it makes sense that it will play a major part in Electronic Arts’ press conference. Unless it winds up getting delayed, this will be BioWare’s last E3 to show off the ambitious looking title. Considering how BioWare Montreal’s Mass Effect: Andromeda left a bad taste in players’ mouths, they’ll also be looking to repair the company’s public image (even if the main studio, BioWare Edmonton, wasn’t involved in development).

Electronic Arts is really going all out to make sure that Anthem feels like a big deal, and this multifaceted approach is smart. Not only will BioWare’s story be at the forefront of the new trailer, but the gameplay will be able to show off the intense action that players can expect from fights. Throw in the behind-the-scenes looks from Hudson and company, and players will get a great look at everything that the role-playing game has to offer.
